Artist Reflection (Color Sampling)

1. The best shot is my second color sample photo with the Italian book. I feel like the editing really made the book stand out from the stack and it's very pleasing to look at.
2. My weakest shot was probably the first color sample photo with the star. It doesn't really seem like a good edit and it looks almost just like the regular photo because the color from the stars makes the wall already look black and white.
3. My weakest image can be improved if I payed more attention to detail with the corners. The star was tricky to edit for the color sample, so it looks like the colors are bleeding through the star and onto the wall.
4. I used Photoshop to edit my shots. I used black and white, tint, the pencil tool, and levels.
5. I was able to meet the goals of the assignment by taking pictures outside of school and editing them for each part.
6. What was easy was taking the photos. I have a variety of things in my bedroom I used and could use, so it wasn't that hard to find different things to take photos of.
7. What was difficult was doing the color sampling part. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I kept staring over and redoing it.
8. If I could do this again, I would try taking more photos outside. Sure, I said I have a lot of things inside my house, but I think i would've gotten better shots with nature. Especially with the snow.
9. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this project an 8. I feel like I put a lot more effort in this assignment than other assignments because I had plenty of time to do it.

Reflection (Motion)

1. The best shot I got was the first shot, which was slow shutter. I loved how I changed the color and I really like how it's shaped like a fan.
2. My weakest shot was honestly both of my fast shutter pieces. They're like copies of each other and there's not much uniqueness with them, so I don't like them at all.
3. My weakest shots can be improved if I added more unique content to it so that they can be more different from each other.
4. I used Photoshop to edit. I used levels, hue & saturation, and color balance.
5. I was able to meet the objectives by taking shots that resemble stop motion and shots that look more blurry and add more to the shots.
6. What was easy was editing my slow shutter shots because the more vibrant I made them, the more the blurry lights pop out to me.
7. What was hard was getting the shots for slow shutter. I don't really understand how to handle professional cameras, so I tried searching for a good enough app on my phone, which was its own challenge.
8. If I could do this assignment again, I would find more things to take pictures of outside of school to have more variety to my project.
9. I would rate this project a 4 mainly because there isn't enough variety and it was 100% a struggle for me to get shots of both slow and fast shutter outside of school without help.

Reflection (Depth of Field)

1. The best shot is my first shot. The way that it focuses only on the part of the sink makes it stand out, unlike the stuff in the background.
2. My weakest shot is my last one. I didn't understand high depth that much, so I kind of rushed my last to get my project in.
3. My weakest shot can be improved by taking more time on it and putting a little more focus on the chair and shelf in the background.
4. I used Photoshop to edit my photos. The tools I used were Levels, Hue & Saturation, and Color Balance.
5. I was able to meet the objective by taking two shots that focused on an object in the front while blurring out the background objects and the complete opposite with the last two shots.
6. What was easy was doing low depth because it was clear on what I had to do, since I only had to focus on one object.
7. What was difficult was getting a clear understanding on the differences of low depth and high depth. I kind of didn't know what I was doing with high depth, so I always and to look up references to get a clear idea.
8. If I could do this assignment again, I would try to ask the teacher more questions instead of thinking I knew what I was doing (which is clearly not true without help).
9. I would rate my performance a 7 because my low depth, in my opinion, is pretty decent. The only thing dragging down the number is my high depth, which I feel like is the worst part of my performance.

Reflection (Backlighting)

1. My best shot is the first one. The positioning and the black and white colors make the picture seem eerie and creepy. The two people in the picture really look like they're both one scary monster thing.
2. My weakest shot is the second one. I didn't really like the position I was in when I took it, since it was taken from the side. The colors are fine, but it just looks blurry, in my opinion (but others can disagree, I don't know).
3. My weakest shot can be improved if I just moved to a front view so it doesn't look slanted and the angle wouldn't look so "off."
4. I used Photoshop to edit my shots. I used the hue/saturation tool and the levels tools.
5. I was able to meet the objectives of this assignment by taking over 30 pictures, posting 2 of my best shots, and using backlighting to my advantage to make creepy photos.
6. What was easy was the editing. I enjoy editing my photos I take outside of school and making them black and white, so I already knew how to do so. I also already am aware of how to work the hue/saturation, since I've done it multiple times before I took this class in general.
7. What was difficult was getting the right backlighting to make it look good. I'm very picky with lighting, so I was difficult to find good lighting at home. So, I just stuck with what I had in class.
8. If I could do this assignment again, I would try to find better ways to get lighting using my resources at home better. I felt like I just gave up doing it at home because I act like a perfectionist all the time. I need to get out of that habit.
9. On a scale of 1-10, I would give this a solid 6. Although it came out decent when I edited my shots, I felt like I didn't put as much effort in it like in my texture project. I just wanted to take whatever shots I could and stick to them. I didn't really care as much and I think that was my downfall in this project.

Do Now- Ansel Adams

Ansel Adam does landscape photography. He probably brings out the textures of objects by editing and using different angles. In my opinion, I'm a sucker for landscapes in photography, so I absolutely adore the photos. I love how there's only black and white in the photos and how the textures really pop out to me. It's really beautiful shots, honestly. This person is really talented in what they do and I can tell he has a lot of passion for it. It seems like he puts a lot of hard work into what he does.

Reflection Questions (Texture)

1. My strongest work, I believe, is the picture of the apple. The vibrant colors, along with how the lighting really makes the apple seem smooth, really makes the image pop.
2. My weakest work is the picture of the leaf. Compared to the other two, the lighting wasn't really the best. It made the image look a bit fuzzy, in my opinion.
3. My weakest image can be improved if I moved around more so the lighting could look better at different angles.
4. I used Photoshop to edit. The tools I used was levels, hue & saturation, and color balance.
5. By enhancing the light source, I believe I was able to enhance the texture. For all of my photos, the lighting source was placed on the right side of them.
6. What was easy was editing the pictures. Right now, it feels like second nature to make the pictures more vibrant and to make them stand out more.
7. What was difficult was to position myself to get close to the objects. Since I'm not that tall, it was difficult to get to the apple, and it did hurt my back a bit to bend down for the leaf.
8. If I could do this assignment again, I would change my angles more than once for each object I took a picture of so I would have more variety.
9. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my efforts an 8. I think I tried to get the best images I could get more than on the composition project. Especially when I went apple picking. I had more time to focus on the details instead of just worrying about getting a picture.

Texture Project

The texture is smooth for both the apple and the leaves. For the leaves, some parts can be rough.

The texture is rough and pretty flaky with the bark shown in the picture.

The texture of this image is smoothness and roughness on both sides of the leaves on the plant.

Artist Reflection (Composition)

I feel like the best shot in this assignment was the simplicity shot because the colors and how it's really easy to focus on just the volleyball, since it's suppose to be simplistic. It's also my favorite out of all of them. My weakest shot was the one that emphasized foreground because it's difficult to see a line that represents the horizon. My weakest image could be improved by it being in a different area where there isn't many buildings or distractions everywhere. I used Photoshop to edit my pictures. The tools I used were levels, brightness and contrast, hue and saturation, and color balance. What was easy about the assignment was that it was easy to find objects to take pictures of. especially in my house. What was difficult about the assignment was finding different places to take pictures of. I don't really have a way of going anywhere, unless I walk, but that would've taken too long for me to do. If I could do this assignment again, I would probably look more into detail when it came to places. I should've read the directions again so I would've been able to know exactly what to do. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate my effort an 7. That's my rating because even though I took decent shots, I felt like I rushed them, like I was on a timer. I didn't focus on what to do and what's wrong with my photo when I should've.

Composition Project

Simplicity
This photo shows simplicity because it doesn't have any distracting elements to it. It only has the volleyball, along with the wooden floor and the wall behind it.

Brightness and Sharpness
This shows brightness and sharpness because the lamp used is shining on the side, making it have better texture to the cup.

Avoid Bull's Eye
This avoids bull's eye because the keyboard is on the left side and not smack dab in the middle.

Emphasizes Foreground
This emphasizes foreground because the horizon is all the way in the upper frame of the picture.

Emphasizes Height & Distance
This emphasizes height and distance because The horizon is close to the lower half of the frame in the picture, as shown by the small school that lies on it.

Leading Lines
This represents leading lines because the street is shown to be going down, or forward. You can also follow the two yellow lines, the white line, and the sidewalk as well.

Multiple Objects
This represents multiple objects because the picture shows off multiple things, like the cars and the bushes that separate the two houses.

Rule of Thirds
This represents rule of thirds because the tree in the picture is not in the middle, It's all the way on the left side.

Bell Ringer: Photo Response

I think this photo was apart of Time Magazine's 100 Best Collection because not only was it taken of the day of the attack on 9/11, but it showed what measures people would take to not get caught up in the flames that the planes caused to the building. It was also one of the few photos taken of someone dying that day.

Picture of My Shoes (First Photo)

The difference between a snapshot and an artistic photo is that a snapshot is just a regular photo. But, an artistic photo is one where you take a photo and start editing it to make it more pleasing and much better than it was before.
